Scotscub57 yrsAfter seenig some of the Rock Radio's 500 greatest rock songs of all time being voted by everyday users & listeners here, it gave me the idea of why not add some of these greatest songs on here, I have picked Creedence Clearwater revival here, why as I simluy love the laid back rock songs that they played , once you're heard some of them you instantly think of other artists who covered some of these songs. I hope that you'll enjoy.

Bad Moon Rising
Green River
Lyrics:
I see the bad moon rising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin''
I see bad times today.
CHORUS:
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There''s a bad moon on the rise.
I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.
CHORUS
All right!
Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we''re in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

Who''ll Stop The Rain
Cosmo''s Factory
Lyrics:
Long as I remember
The rain been comin' down.
Clouds of myst'ry pourin''
Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages,
Tried to find the sun;
And I wonder, still I wonder,
Who''ll stop the rain.
I went down Virginia,
Seekin' shelter from the storm.
Caught up in the fable,
I watched the tower grow.
Five year plans and new deals,
Wrapped in golden chains.
And I wonder, still I wonder
Who''ll stop the rain.
Heard the singers playin',
How we cheered for more.
The crowd had rushed together,
Tryin' to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin',
Fallin'' on my ears.
And I wonder, still I wonder
Who''ll stop the rain.

Fortunate Son
Willy And The Poor Boys
Lyrics:
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief",
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no senator's son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me;
I ain't no fortunate one, no,
Yeah!
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh.
But when the taxman comes to the door,
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes,
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no.
It ain't me, it ain't me;
I ain't no fortunate one, no.
Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord,
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer More! more! more! yoh,
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me;
I ain't no fortunate one, one.
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate son, no no no,

Down On The Corner
Willy And The Poor Boys
Lyrics:
Early in the evenin' just about supper time,
Over by the courthouse they're starting to unwind.
Four kids on the corner trying to bring you up.
Willy picks a tune out and he blows it on the harp.
CHORUS:
Down On The Corner, out in the street,
Willy and the Poorboys are playin';
Bring a nickel; tap your feet.
Rooster hits the washboard and people just got to smile,
Blinky, thumps the gut bass and solos for a while.
Poorboy twangs the rhythm out on his kalamazoo.
Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo.
CHORUS
CHORUS
You don't need a penny just to hang around,
But if you've got a nickel, won't you lay your money down?
Over on the corner there's a happy noise.
People come from all around to watch the magic boy.
a memberCCR were certainly one hell of a band. Their sound was certainly laid back, soft rock with a hint of gospel. The band were originally called Tommy Fogerty & The Blue Velvets, 4 years later they were signed to the Fantasy label, who sneakily changed their name to the Golliwogs. All 7 of the singles issued from Fantasy went unnoticed by the listening public.
Then the band themselves chose a new name, Creedence taken from the name of a friend; Clearwater was lifted from a beer commercial; Revival was added to show the band felt they now had new life
They had a terrific track record (pardon the pun...) with 8 consecutive Gold Singles (and 8 Gold Albums) - few new bands these days manage 2 singles before fading into oblivion.
My favourite CCR track is Bad Moon Rising - can you guess why?

Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
Pendulum
Lyrics:
Someone told me long ago
There''s a calm before the storm,
I know; It''s been comin'' for some time.
When it''s over, so they say,
It''ll rain a sunny day,
I know; Shinin'' down like water.
CHORUS:
I want to know,
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know,
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin'' down on a sunny day?
Yesterday, and days before,
Sun is cold and rain is hard,
I know; Been that way for all my time.
''Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
I know; It can''t stop, I wonder.
CHORUS
Yeah!

Lookin'' Out My Back Door
Cosmo''s Factory
Lyrics:
Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch.
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I''m singin'',
CHORUS:
Doo, doo, doo, Lookin'' out my back door.
There''s a giant doing cartwheels, a statue wearin'' high heels.
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
A dinosaur Victrola list''ning to Buck Owens.
CHORUS
Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won''t you take a ride on the flyin'' spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Wond''rous apparition provided by magician.
CHORUS
Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won''t you take a ride on the flyin'' spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Bother me tomorrow, today, I''ll buy no sorrows.
CHORUS
Forward troubles Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
Bother me tomorrow, today, I''ll buy no sorrows.

Someday Never Comes
Mardi Gras
Lyrics:
First thing I remember was askin' papa, "Why?",
For there were many things I didn't know.
And Daddy always smiled; took me by the hand,
Sayin', "Someday you'll understand."
CHORUS:
Well, I'm here to tell you now each and ev'ry mother's son
You better learn it fast; you better learn it young,
'Cause, "Someday" Never Comes."
Well, time and tears went by and I collected dust,
For there were many things I didn't know.
When Daddy went away, he said, "Try to be a man,
And, Someday you'll understand."
CHORUS
And then, one day in April, I wasn't even there,
For there were many things I didn't know.
A son was born to me; Mama held his hand,
Sayin' "Someday you'll understand."
CHORUS
Think it was September, the year I went away,
For there were many things I didn't know.
And I still see him standing, try'n' to be a man;
I said, "Someday you'll understand."
CHORUS
Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm....
